Eight stabbing victims were hospitalized and six suspects were in custody Sunday following a predawn melee that police were investigating as gang-related.
Officers responded to a 1:23 a.m. report of a stabbing incident on the 500 block of East Sycamore Street, Anaheim Police Sgt. Ben Starke said. Police found eight stab victims -- a group of males and females -- and obtained a description of a white Toyota Camry last seen escaping eastbound.
As the call went out, one of the responding officers spotted the suspect vehicle and called for backup. Multiple units surrounded the car at Lincoln Avenue and East Street, and the six suspects surrendered without incident, Sgt. Daron Wyatt said.
All the suspects were reported to be from Anaheim, ages 17 to 24. Three are male, three female.
The victims were taken to multiple hospitals. All were reported to be in stable condition Sunday afternoon. One victim was from Anaheim, the others' place of residence was being checked. One of the victims was 45, the others ranging in age from late teens to early 20s, Wyatt said.
It appeared that all of the stab victims were from one group, the assailants from the group that fled, police said.
Asked if there was any word on what had touched off the melee, "that's part of the investigation," Wyatt said.

I can guess that one gang did not want the other gang to work their illegal drug sales in their market.

I’ve driven through the neighborhood where this occurred and for several years I’ve been telling people exactly that. It’s a place where you will see four foot high gang graffiti sprayed on the walls of decaying apartment buildings.
Deport a few million illegals and places like this would have a chance to return to America.
Well that’s just an over generalization, what this area was once upon and what it is now are night and day, these are neighborhoods with more in common with Santa Ana than the Disneyland area. Small two bedroom homes in an area that is mostly if not all Hispanic. Anaheim like all other large cities has many diverse areas from multi million dollar homes to slum like areas. In other words just like the rest of America and has always, even in the days of the Beaver and The Beach Boys had a robust Hispanic community and forty years ago when I was high school we had the school closed for two days because of the surfers and cholos fighting. First world problems indeed.
