Pffffffffffffffffttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
Agreed. It just reeks of the same kind of approach that the last Mad Max took. Even Jar Jar had more depth as comic relief than Rey as a main character.
If those gratuitous appeals to SJWs were removed, it would improve the overall movie.
Loved the film, but the main problem I had with it was that Rey doesn’t seem to have any flaws, she is good at everything. She is not a very well-rounded character and that is a major flaw when she is the protagonist. Still, it was good to see the light sabre duels and revisit old characters.
Haven’t seen it yet. But, I’m tired of these skinny little girls turned into physical heroes. Jessica Alba comes to mind.
Just like everything else coming out of Hollywood, these days.
The last couple of years, I've been watching Korean and Taiwanese movies and TV dramas, instead. Though sometimes trite and repetitive, they are completely free of mandatory social justice lectures. Not one word about minority or gay rights...and women even lose verbal exchanges to men once in a while. :)
What a surprise! < /s>
I would have been shocked if it wasn’t.
I enjoyed it. It was good, not great.
I liked Rey. I didn’t care so much for Fin and that didn’t have anything to do with the fact that he was black. He just wasn’t a very good actor - although in Star Wars acting is superfluous.
Carrie Fisher bore little resemblance to her younger self - too much plastic surgery and hard times, I guess.
Ford was what you would expect.
The general was outstanding in his Hitleresque speech. (Same guy was the protagonist in Ex Machina). Good actor.
Chewy was the best ever.
It’s Star Wars IV, V, and VI all rolled into one. Obviously they are trying to make social points. I thought it was crap. Nothing redeeming about it that I could find. Big budget films are INCAPABLE of being politically incorrect. Too much money, too many friends and hangers-on to be lost, and too few genuinely talented writers.
this was a jar jar abrams special.
cut and paste from other parts of the franchise and presto the cat is saved.
(btw the blood on hands was a Hitchcock thing)
To be fair, Kylo Ren is turned into Brown person despite his parents being White. Evidently, joining the Dark Side does make one non-White.
