Mom outraged as her daughter, 7, is given henna TATTOOS on school 'multicultural' day'
Daily Mail ^

A Texas mother is speaking out after her daughter's school gave the young girl a henna tattoo the week before Christmas.

Tammy Samour was shocked when she picked up her daughter Leah, 7, from Ed White Elementary School in Houston and saw the second grader's hands covered in the designs, which are traditionally applied to the hands and feet of women during Hindu ceremonies and festivals.

That shock soon turned to outrage however as Ms. Samour says she never gave the school permission to tattoo Leah - and now the brown paste will not wash off her hands. It can take several days before the vegetable dye fades.

Ms. Samour also said that connections she discovered between the Hindu and Muslim faiths were of concern to her when she decided to do further research on the tattoo.

So?...What happens when a small child ( some so young they are barely out of diapers) is forced by the government into an environment where others are sporting very pretty painted nails?

By God, some of the nurses in the delivery room could even be wearing nail polish!

How could it be otherwise?

This is from the Devil, I'll tell you what.

Henna way you want it, that’s the way you need it.

On a personal level I absolutely and completely agree with you. Personally, if my child came home with a henna tattoo I would quietly explain to my child our family's religious, cultural and political beliefs sand let it go with that simple explanation.

Personally, I wear nail polish. I wouldn't mind if my child used it or be in company with other children who wear it.

Here are a few questions:

Would you support imposing my worldview ( and yours) on other neighbors’ children through the use of police and court threat?

Would you suggest that the government tax your neighbor, also by means of police and court action, to establish, uphold, and promote my ( and also your) political, cultural, and religious worldview?

This is what compulsory government schools are. Government schools establish the non-neutral religious, political, and cultural worldviews of the politically powerful and crush that of the weak.

Government schools can't be fixed. There will always be tugs of war over government school curriculum and policies because it is **impossible** for government schooling to be neutral.

Yes, you have mentioned that previously and I've taken note of it.

Anybody turned gay by seeing nail polish.. was already on the gay train.

Of course its a chemical. All stains permanent and non-permanent are chemicals. If they weren't they wouldn't stain.

Just because a chemical comes from a plant doesn't mean it isn't a chemical. There are numerous **deadly** chemicals that will kill a person.

Before you get your knickers in a wad I have had a Henna tattoo and it fades!!! It will last for about a month and actually makes your skin softer.

“Even more stupid is the supposed connection between “Muslim and Hindu faiths” lol. About the only thing correct in the article is that henna tattoos are difficult to remove.”

This is true! Henna is more cultural not religious!

Don’t mark up my kids with ANYTHING without my permission, especially some religious symbols. They might be invoking demons. The EXORCIST true story began with a kid playing with a ouji board ‘just for fun.’

I quote from the referenced article:

"That shock soon turned to outrage however as Ms. Samour says she never gave the school permission to tattoo Leah..."

My point was not what you saw in the pics. The point was it could have been anything -but the parents did not give permission for any markings at all to be applied.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the "other" articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Ms. Samour told Click 2 Houston that while the family did receive this email from the school, it was her husband who read it and it made no difference as neither one of them had heard of henna tattoos.

It should have required a signed permission slip to allow it, not inform the parents that it's happening and if they object to say so.

‘’No ‘tatoo instruments’ are used in a henna tattoo.’’

A paint brush would be an instrument, as would a stencil.

Yes, but they aren’t tattoo instruments. https://www.google.com/search?q=tattoo+instruments&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjM4Py5yfXJAhWB4SYKHdlZBVQQ_AUIBygB&biw=1024&bih=612#tbm=isch&q=tattoo+instruments+images

The point of my post is that the school can't be neutral on this issue or on any of thousands of curriculum and policy decisions.

If you haven't read the whole post, I invite you to do so.

The is only one possible solution to the government school curriculum and policy wars....Begin the process of privatizing all schooling. Do that and these issues will be settled privately in a private setting between private teachers and private school principals.
