I kept hearing what a great show it was so I bought the DVD’s for Season 1. I consider it soft porn. I didn’t kame it half way through the first season. I think it’s vile. Now I’m stuck with the DVD’s. I won’t sell them because I don’t want to peddle porn.
Are you the TV Nazi? There’s a reason why it’s on a pay TV channel. The show does a play on British monarchy from the middle ages, and adds a fantasy aspect.
The George R Martin books are intended to show the horrors of war, medieval feuds, etc.
And the TV show leaves out a number of rapes in the books where characters saw rape as one of the spoils of war.
And the “marriage” scene in the show was actually LESS bad than the scene in the books.
The books detail how horrible rape is to women and men, how physical torture and abuse dehumanize and demean people ... it is a long morality play on the aftermath of war and how that makes war evil.
The whole argument that the sex scenes in Game of Thrones being unacceptable in promoting a rape culture ignores who the books make readers realize who bad rape is.
Then again, it is like liberals screaming about rape culture by labeling everyone who disagrees with them as a rapist, proving that there is no rape culture if that’s the debate is the worst thing they face.
