I never thought of Jeb! this way until you said it, and now I cannot think of him otherwise. That is how a sound analogy works.
In my spare-thoughts time, I have been wondering if there could be a place for Jeb! in either a Cruz (my 1st choice) or Trump (my 2nd choice) administration. It would be something similar to the role Charles Frances Adams, son of John Quincy and the Adams equivalent of Jeb!, after he lost the 1856 VP race: he was Ambassador to the Court of St. James, and kept the British neutral in the Civil War, while Lincoln handled the Presidency. I can see Jeb! as ambassador to France, helping co-ordinate anti-jihadist efforts between a rejuvenated Cruz-or-Trump administration and the French--but he would have to get over his aversion to Marine Le Pen, since she'll be involved in any such decision-making in the French government by 2017.
