Loser of the Debate: The Moderators, The Methodology, and The Process
Vanity | 15 Dec 2015 | Xzins

Posted on 12/15/2015 8:17:31 PM PST by xzins

This debate was annoying.

If the moderators would stop talking over top of the candidates, then we could actually hear what they have to say.

If the moderator's handlers would have had the courage to trim this debate (finally) down to five or six of the top candidates, then we wouldn't have been subject to their short time limits, their incessant buzzers, and their rude interruptions right as the candidates were making their points at the end of their comments.

This gets us to the process. More than anything, I was struck by how artificial this entire format was tonight. I've never been a fan of putting too many people on a stage, or of putting two people on a stage and subjecting them to questions from faux neutral commentators from faux neutral news organizations.

The disconnect went deeper tonight. We got to see again the phony efforts to get candidates to confront one another. We got to see the leading questions, the inane questions, and the ideologically loaded questions.

What a lousy way to pick a president.

The commentators are now either praising Bush, praising Cruz, or praising their preferred candidate.

Spin control

True.

They treated Kasich very well. Cruz ... not so much.

The whole thing is rotten.

The pre-debate round table was typically liberal and hard to watch. When Hewitt got booed during the debate, it was totally fitting.

The media is the enemy of the American people. See who the media is against , Trump . That’s who to support.

The media wants Jeb. Then the media tried to raise fiorina, carson etc. with fake polls to try to take Trump down.

I love the propaganda questions that CNN posts below the video purportedly from 'Facebook Users' like:

"is the way the Republicans are discussing immigration going to lead to Hispanics returning to the party"

... "have you been able to refrain from beating your wife lately" ...

It is clear to me that Trump’s VP will be Newt Gingrich. Newt will compliment with strong understanding of the legislative process. Cruz has the article II issue but will be a great Attorney General and then move to the Supreme Court!! The cabinet will be stacked with these candidates. What a government it will be. God Bless Trump!!

Cruz did well tonight. In fact, there were no knock out blows.

Trump, A
Cruz, A
Carson, B+
Paul, B+
Fiorina, B
Christie, B
Rubio, C+
Bush, C+
Kasich, C-

I vote for only top five in future debates, put the rest at the kiddie table or send them home.

I agree. I was very pleased with Cruz (as always). I think the mods tried to talk over him quite a bit. But that didn’t hurt him.

I thought Woofie did surprisingly well. The other two not so much.

Too many insignificant candidates, too long, too biased a crowd.

Cruz and Rubio drew blood from eachother. I put my money on Carson rising again to number 2.

I didn’t care for any of the 3 tonight. I thought it was more of the same.

[I put my money on Carson rising again to number 2]

CARSON slept through the whole debate.

I think Cruz drew blood from Rubio, but I don’t think Rubio touched Cruz. The facts were on Cruz’s side.

The multiple attacks on Rubio’s part of the immigration bill had him shook.

Bush proved again that there’s absolutely no reason to put another Bush in office.

Hugh Hewitt accusing Trump of not caring about killing innocent children was the most repulsive thing I can recall anyone asking in any debate.

I will think of Hewitt anytime I walk by a steaming pile of dog crap.

GOPe obviously planted Bush supporters in the audience. They roared for every inane thing he said. Too many interruptions by the cnn people. They should ask a question and shut up during the answer.
