Yesterday would have been my Mother's 93rd Birthday.

Didn't see a Google Doodle commemorating that either.

Stupid thing to get mad about. Could be that Sinatra had a low draft number. A lot of men didn’t serve because we still had a country to run.

Sorry, but he did what he could to not fight. Had nothing to do with the draft. Ask some of the few survivors of WWII, and they'll tell you. That was very well known, but never mentioned nowadays. Not sure why.

Google Doodle is only a hook. An ‘extra’ little something to gain a bite or two (as if they need it) Snickerdoodle would be able to accomplish the same if given the opportunity.

Maybe because he was Mafia-connected and they think that he was a criminal.....something akin to unindicted co-conspirator?

Or maybe because he supported jfk?

Or marginal ‘actor’ and ‘singer’ who sang off-key?

*flame suit in place*

;-)

Yes, Sinatra was not an admirable man for most of his life. He did campaign for Ronald Reagan and return to the Catholic Church late in life.

The Catholic thing doesn’t matter to me one way or another. But the Reagan thing has always made me wonder, Did he take a right turn, or was it just a Hollywood thing? Or was it just a case of recognizing Carter’s incompetence?

His punctured eardrum and some scars on his face were the result of a traumatic birth. He wasn’t really a healthy guy. Reportedly, J. Edgar Hoover looked into it and verified the story.

He was a creep, but his image defined cool for a whole generation of a certain age. But plenty of GIs had ill feelings, as others exempted found better ways than Frank to demonstrate their patriotism.

He endorsed Nixon over McGovern in 1972 so he might have broken with the Dems over their radicalism. It is clear that he had broken with the Kennedy clan by that time. Sinatra’s friendship with Ronald and Nancy Reagan undoubtedly was a high point of his later years. He visited them in the White House several times.

“Sinatra was a thug anyway.”

Ask anyone he pushed around, slapped, or punched around while his bodyguard Jilly stood by.

Nowadays I play his albums backwards just for s***s & giggles. “Something Stupid” was the only song I liked & that was because Nancy was in it.

And Kitty Kelley still has both her kneecaps.

;^)

We all sin and fall short. But Frank was a man’s man. I love his music and I always will.

Happy Birthday Mr. Sinatra.
