The first executive order should just be a repeal of a very long listing of previous executive orders.

If there is a conservative congress, this should be followed with a presidential request to congress to repeal a long list of presidential proclamations (read: federal land grabs of state lands), which must be agreed to by congress.

After that, there is a major bone of contention between the president and congress, which is leading to a constitutional crisis. The presidential signing statement. That is, a statement *added* to a federal law that the president signs, which steals both legislative and judicial power. These must be both rescinded and forbidden in the future.

Next up is the resurrection and enhancement of both the War Powers Act and the Posse Comitatus Act. As well as clarification as to what *exactly* is protected by executive privilege.

And congress needs to be stimulated to strongly enforce its prerogatives. If they subpoena someone to testify and they refuse or show other contempt, they need six months in jail at the first offense.

Next up is the dismantling and downgrading of large parts of the bureaucracy, and this is much of the chore congress was involved in while the president was reforming his office.

As these Executive “Orders” trample on individual liberties, ther time is ripe to — when obvious and necessary — to adjudicate them as unconstitutional, and defund them from direct or indirect resources allocated by the House of Representatives. IMHO.

I would like to see President Cruz on January 20, 2017, issue an executive order cancelling all executive orders from these eight terrible years. I would like to see him follow that with an executive order freezing all immigration until the immigration crisis is solved to his satisfaction, with no special path to citizenship that rewards criminals for coming illegally, an order fast-tracking hearings to deport all illegals detected in this country, and an order prioritizing immigration enforcement and prosecution of those who knowingly hire illegals.

Next, I would like to see an executive order granting permanent blanket waivers on Obamacare requirements for all US citizens and all US employers, pending a formal repeal of that terrible law. Pair that with executive orders preventing federal agencies from hiring enough staff to maintain their size. Other than a very small subset of the government (the military, and not much else), I’d like to see new hiring restricted to one new person for every three who leave federal government positions. I don’t care if the money is budgeted; don’t automatically spend it.

That is enough executive orders, and I’d like to see Cruz stop there, except for pushing for a restoration of the rule of law. From there, he should act as president, carrying out the law rather than making it with “a pen and a phone”, although I’d like to see him encourage Congress to formally shrink FedGov.

I think he’ll use executive orders. All presidents will until Congress stops them.

Dear Sara,

‘To stop them’, would mean that Congress would have to re-write the U.S. title code that allows ‘executive orders’ to exist.

Dear pollster,

In dealing with ‘federal employees’, there has been a silent partner that needs to have their contracts revoked, yesterday.

They are the federal employees’ unions, which even ol’ F.D.R. was not in favor of existing.

Federal employees’ union heirarchies, i.e., first line reps; shop reps; stewards, and so on, all DO UNION BUSINESS ON FEDERAL EMPLOYEE SALARY TIME.

Dear Boogieman,

re: gun control ... would you repeal:
the 1968 gun control act;
what about the gun control law from the 30’s?

(If you say ‘no’, why?)

Yes, Congress clearly has no authority to ban firearms (unless perhaps if they were defective products or something like that).

Sometimes they write unconstitutional EO’s. To “stop” them is to expose them to ridicule and condemnation.
