Before he was assassinated on the orders of Louis Farrakhan, Malcolm X also left the NOI, and rejected their racist teachings after a pilgrimage to Mecca.....there fixed it.
Some have suggested that he was actually assassinated on the orders of Elijah Muhammed and that Farrakhan's people were just the tools used to get it done. Malcolm was just too popular in that movement, had too much influence, and was a threat to the cash cow that racist rhetoric provided for the leadership of the movement.
Not that Malcolm X was any great prize himself when one looks at his past.
