Trump has been surprisingly stingy so far this cycle. As of the last filing deadline, Trump had only spent about $2 million of his own money -- the other $4 million the campaign spent were donations from supporters. Why spend any money when you're the subject of every network and cable news show 24/7?

Yup. Spending money is almost inversely proportional to political success this time around.
Who has spent money up front? John Elllis Bush, Scott Walker, John Kasich and maybe Marco Rubio. Who has been on top? Trump, Carson, Cruz and maybe Rubio.
