âI'll take a bullet before you do, thatâs for damn sure. So just be cool, okay?â Those were the chilling words of San Bernardino County sheriffâs Detective Jorge Lozano on that beautiful Southern California day last Wednesday. I donât think Det. Lozano wanted to âtake a bulletâ that day. He was possibly no less terrified than the citizens he was leading to safety. He wasnât trying to be a hero. He, too, wanted to get home to his family that night. But he took an oath âto protect and serveâ, and was trained to put aside his own fears and do his duty. He put aside the negative words of the President and other self-serving politicians and activists that are directed at law enforcement officers nowadays. He momentarily forgot the hateful âPigs in a blanket; fry âem like baconâ and similar rhetoric that weâve been hearing so frequently of late, and did what was necessary âto protect and serveâ. Detective Lozanoâs heroic words and actions were caught on video, but, no doubt, many similar scenarios played out that morning with a different cast of characters. Our police officers and other first responders are willing to put their own safety at risk on a daily basis in an all too often thankless job.

Chilling words? They don’t sound chilling to me. Inspiring maybe but not chilling. You would think that all the writers of news these days were women.
I wonder if this detective is a member of Oath Keepers. In any case, I strongly suspect that he takes his oath to defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic, seriously.
Oathkeeper bump!
You would think that all the writers of news these days were idiots.
There. Fixed it for you.
The sad truth is that, thanks to a certain “leader,” this brave man may be more likely to take a bullet now from a racial grievance group than he was many months ago.
What does that mean?
Wouldn’t surprise me none.
Sad, but true.
Chilling words? They donât sound chilling to me. Inspiring maybe but not chilling.

Inspiring to those of us not involved, not there, not listening in real time.
To hear someone say those words in the heat of the moment, with the smell of gunpowder in the air, after having watched 14 of your colleagues shot and killed, yea, chilling works just fine for me.
But that’s just me.
Couldn’t have said it better!
