The Portsmouth Police Department was called to an Ocean State Job Lot store after a woman allegedly shoplifted baking ingredients on Nov. 19, Lt. Darrin Sargent told ABC News today. Police were able to track the woman down and Officer Michael Kotsonis went to her residence to interview her, Sargent said.

Good lord.. Makes me want to puke.
Dittos to that. What a freakin’ crock.
Should have tased her
I’m sure it was “well-intentioned” but it had the effect of reinforcing the old adage that crime pays.
I support what the cop did.
Her judgement was bad.
Mercy, Pity, gosh, what horribly Christian ideas.
The store didn't press charges. They opened a special charge account for her on her word that she would pay everything back when she got on her feet.
Today she has three children, one is a police officer. She lives a good, honest middle class life.

How many people today who don’t have cash, still have ebt cards for food? Mixes are $1.at the Dollar Store. What was she teaching her son?
My local grocery store helps out a few people in need. Several times, I’ve seen managers hand out $25 gift cards to people who just needed a little help making ends meet. Very quietly. No pomp and fanfare, there was a need and it was just taken care of.
Needless to say, the money was spent on necessities, not steaks and lobster. You’d be surprised at how far you can make a 20 dollar bill stretch.
Makes me glad to shop there. Good people. And, I suspect that my grocery store isn’t the only place like that.
