I’m a woman with little firearms training and didn’t grow up around it...plus I’m not around military/police trained people a lot..that’s why I said article was useful.

...rarely seen them discuss what people are actually supposed to do in these situations...

Pull out you own weapon and shoot to kill. What else?

Understood - it does have some useful info for even those who do have weapons and carry them. I grew up around guns and had lots of training by my Dad and NRA programs. I trained my wife and she carries. I also trained my daughter when she expressed interest.

While what you say is true, it's easy enough to obtain training to be able to use a weapon safely and effectively.

With the proper weapon, eye protection and ear protection, you might find that you enjoy recreational shooting.

Carrying a weapon is part of getting dressed to go out and while I know I have it, I am not constantly "aware" of it as something alien or different. One can learn to be comfortable, and ever respectful at the same time, with/around weapons.

To repeat an old saying about something or other, "Try it, you'll like it".

Be safe.

Mine would be to draw the Glock and administer a couple doses of .45 ACP. Shoot, then keep moving.

I’m out on the govt approved ‘shelter in place’ and wait to be shot.

1. If possible, evacuate any who cannot defend themselves (including yourself).

2. If armed, be prepared to defend your position with maximum force.

3. If unarmed and unable to escape, prepare to defend yourself in whatever manner possible.

4. If face-to-face with the shooter, and the shooter reloads, attack. You won’t be any more dead than if you cowered.

5. Get access to the jihadi’s weapons, if possible. Sam Colt was the great equalizer, after all.

I took my granddaughter to a concert at a local college this week. Through the whole thing I was looking around to be sure I knew where we were in relation to the exits. I checked out the seats to see if I could get her and myself under them if need be. I could not enjoy the thing for thinking about how we were all just sitting ducks if someone took it upon themselves to punish us infidels. One thing I did note was that there was no gun free zone sticker on the doors. I have always thought these things would continue to happen in obscure places no one ever heard of or thought were dangerous except right now everywhere has the potential to be dangerous. I have resisted getting my CCW because I consider myself to be too scatter brained to be responsible. The alternative is to not go anywhere or be nervous the whole time. That’s what they want I guess.

I did that too, and even in elementary school I knew that it was useless. My parents made sure I knew the truth about everything I was old enough to understand.

In a lot of states the answer is clear shoot back. In the liberal controlled gun free zones the answers is not so obvious.

Yesterday I saw a report on the California shooting on CNN. It contained the advice to face a shooter, if getting shot is inevitable, instead of taking shots in the side. Presumably, from the front, there are more spaces for the shot to go through you and hopefully miss your vital organs and spine.

But I had to think, what a sad day for America with something like this on the television. It was in the afternoon when kids could be watching. Nightmare stuff.

News agencies should be teaching "fight back" technioques like the ones in this article. Why didn't the kids in that classroom out west hit the shooter over the head with a desk or chair? Why did they crumple? One of the best pieces of advice in this article is that you have only seconds to form your plan and respond assertively. Do not cower. Run, and if you can't run, hide; and if you are faced with a shooter, use any available hard or sharp object and rush him, yelling loudly.

There is no such thing as a permanently "safe space", really -- especially if your dumbazz school thinks a sign will ensure that it's a "gun-free zone." Truly, that's lunacy.

**...should be clear that one cannot expect protection if they can’t provide it themselves because the only real extras that law enforcement brings is the guns they carry...**

The very capable sounding SanBern police spokesman, was proud that they were at the site in 2 mins .... Carnage happens in less than 2 minutes. The cops did the best they could, under the circumstances, IMO.

GEEZ. Us too.

Every night, for about 15 years as a kid growing-up....I’d have terrible nightmares of someone chasing me ....me running away...the chaser was always a commie.

The Red Scare, air raid siren tests, the Rosenbergs, the Iron Curtain, Khrushchev, the Berlin Wall...we were all raised with those fears. We had a neighbor, who had a fallout shelter. I thought that was kinda cool....the guy was such a crank...I knew he would only fend for himself.{{{sigh}}}

I might have had it worse in terms of neighbors. I had a neighbor who was an actual commie - as far left as Obama back when most Americans were decent people and despised commies. I found him frightening with his idea that people had a right to redistribute the property of others in the name of "fairness". I never saw the fairness in working to produce something and then a commie with guns takes it away from you to give it to someone lazy, connected, or both. Now half of America celebrates and votes for that very idea.

All the more reason we can’t allow a hilLIEry presidency ....It’s going to take decades to undo the past 8 years of the left wing radical’s decimation of the Constitution..

I have convent knees....praying for the salvation of our nation.
