Sean Penn is a high school graduate. That is it. He is interested in acting and various social causes. His scientific background is basically a big ZERO. As a result, ANYTHING that he says concerning science I dismiss as being just as irrelevant as what a 5 year old says about science.

I do not doubt his sincerity, however he clearly has an axe to grind. If you want to talk about being part of a cult, he is a clear example of exactly that. He is so driven by ideology and a lack of critical and informed thought that if he happens to be right on any issue of fact, it is pure coincidence. Frankly, if he says “X” on any individual issue, saying “not X” is probably the most sensible and logical thing to do.
