MADISON, Wis. (AP) — It looks like Gov. Scott Walker’s gun deer hunt is a bust, at least so far.

Walker spokeswoman Laurel Patrick said he hunted on Sunday and Monday. He tweeted Sunday that he was “looking for a buck” in Vilas County and posted a picture of snow-covered woods. He tweeted again Monday that he was “back at it,” with another picture of snow-dusted trees. Later Monday he tweeted that it was snowing but his view was amazing and included another picture of the woods.

Drive down my road around ten at night, he’d bag a deer.
And a huge repair bill, but that’s neither here nor there.
I swear, the darn things are attracted to roads and vehicle grills but magically repelled by hunting gear.

They walk right down the sidewalk in my little Dutch farming village in Washington state. They always seem to know it’s best to cross the street at crosswalks.

Yeesh.
Don’t have sidewalks by me, but we do have corn fields, wheat field, and two cow pastures.
The hoofed rats love silage.

One night, I saw a deer by the side of the road while driving on the interstate at 80 miles per hour. Talk about a close shave.

Route 84 eastbound, ~3:30 am.
Deer standing fully in right lane facing traffic as if staring everyone down.
I dodged around him, the semi behind me ate him in the grill.
Insta-chunks.
I do not envy his company the repair bill.
Had the shakes for awhile after that.
Waited until my exit to pull over to turn to jello.

Damn, Scott Walker is having one bad year.

I have to be careful leaving my house for work in the morning, lest I hit one with my car.

I know they’re just rats with antlers, but the meat (venison) is fricking awesome. I actually think it’s the best aside of Angus beef, better than bison or elk even. I can’t deer hunt because I work 2 jobs, but a friend of mine always give me about 10 lbs of it.

It is great stuff.
Deer “steak” is excellent on the grill.
But holy smokes are they seeming idiot savants.
They avoid the local hunters as if some hyper intelligence guided them, then seem to completely lose all brain function when confronted with asphalt.
Weird.

Upstate NY
Buick Regal Turbo
70ish.
Three occupants in the front two bucket seats
Miracle occurred and no injuries to the two humans, of which I was the one with antlered rat on my lap.

Upstate NY
F350 W/9 inches of lift, 40 in tires and a fabbed double tube steel bumper
Antlered rat did an impressive imitation of a helicopter

Well heck, he should just head down to Eagle River and have a few Leinies. Huntin’ ain’t just about shootin’ animals.

I would invite him to sit on my front porch and shoot one of the damn things tearing up my orchard, but he’s about 2000 miles away

I hear that.
I’d ship him the ones by me in orange county NY.
Not certain anyone would appreciate that though.
Our deer are....crazy.

Yknow how some people eat their dessert first because they don't want to miss it?

If he didn't get a deer in a place where they are moving in herds then I think he was probably enjoying the second week of deer camp first.

I had always thought it was dutch...I don’t remember why. I guess I’ll pay more attention next time we’re there. We live about a 1 hour drive from there.
