Used my brother’s Pencil and iPad Pro on TG day, and I did not want to give it back. This device and stylus is incredible, and I am getting one ASAP.

Boy apple has the best too big phone and looser pencil, #2 in everything else. Jobs would have heads rolling.

Has anyone here used it in the context of drawing, such as replacement for charcoal or graphite sketching?

Me too. I don’t want the 12” iPad, but I would like to have the Pencil with my Air (or perhaps a future Air 3??).

I know. I was responding to a post (which was quoted in my post) where the poster said that he hopes that Apple extends it to other iPads. I was agreeing with him.

According to the announcement of the pencil, it is usable only on the pro because the surface of the pro is designed for it. So although I do not doubt that Apple will come out with smaller iPads which will work with the pencil, it does not sound like any existing iPads other than the pro will ever work with the pencil.

Apple Pencil working only with iPad Pro would indicate screen is primarily the “active” component.

NASA spent a fortune developing a Zero Gravity Pen.
The Russians used a Pencil.

The Russians used a Pencil. Urban Legend. Pencils are not used in orbit because the graphite lead can break off, float off, and since graphite is conductive, cause a short in electrical circuits. That and they can burn in a 100% oxygen environment. After the Apollo 1 accident, objects of that type were forbidden.
Someone else spent over a million developing a zero-g pen, but they sold them to NASA for just $3 apiece.

Apple boys just can’t face the fact that they’ve fallen as a pre-eminent hardware/OS company is on a nitch path. Everything they do is now to support their Service business. IOS is their future, the state of the art in Dumb Terminals.
