Don Williams "Good Ole Boys Like Me" on MCA Records was released on 3/29/1980. It was a #2 Country Hit and one of the greatest songs in Country Music in 1980. It was released on the 1979 Top 15 Country LP from MCA "Portrait" on 11/17/1979. This great classic was written by the legendary Texan songwriter Bob McDill. Native Texan and "Gentle Giant" Don Williams was Elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010.

The song was prophetic. The 1980’s was the time when America went big time urban and began to shed the last vestiges of her rural roots.
By the end of the 90’s the Reagan Era, John Wayne and the “Greatest Generation,” and the four decade long Post-War Pax Americana, had disappeared from most American’s conscious. Sept. 11, 2001 drew the curtains for good.
I think we all know answer to “What are they gonna do with good ol’ boys like me.”
I know! I know! Big song. But Don Williams always put me to sleep.
