This is just, magnificent. I wonder when this was first performed if they used boy singers like here. There’s something about the purity of the soprano parts when sung by boys; that strident tone that female sopranos sometimes have is completely absent.

Watching this performed in this magnificent church one can’t help but visualize when it was first performed. The masterpiece was so awe inspiring, building up to the Hallelujah Chorus where the king who was in attendance became so electrified he stood, causing the entire audience to stand.
