Deluxe: Greatest Hits - Carl Perkins
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Carl Lee Perkins (April 9, 1932 â January 19, 1998)[1] was an American singer-songwriter who recorded most notably at Sun Records Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, beginning in 1954. His best-known song is "Blue Suede Shoes".
According to Charlie Daniels, "Carl Perkins' songs personified the rockabilly era, and Carl Perkins' sound personifies the rockabilly sound more so than anybody involved in it, because he never changed."[2] Perkins' songs were recorded by artists (and friends) as influential as Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Johnny Cash, which further cemented his place in the history of popular music. Paul McCartney even claimed that "if there were no Carl Perkins, there would be no Beatles."[3]
Called "the King of Rockabilly", he was inducted into the Rock and Roll, the Rockabilly, the Memphis Music, and the Nashville Songwriters Halls of Fame; and was a Grammy Hall of Fame Award recipient.

Ping
My parents came home from The Silver Moon in Newport, Arkansas all excited about seeing Carl Perkins. They didn’t know he was going to be there. It was around 1955 or so. My mother said he was wearing blue suede shoes.
McCartney said his records would be brought to Liverpool by the merchant sailors and they would get one and wear it out trying to learn the songs.
I song him with the Johnny Cash Show at the 1971 Houston Live Stock Fair and Rodio.
