A deep freeze set in across the Midwest on Sunday with low temperatures forecast in the single digits and a few below zero, turning the season's first major snow into ice that made some roads treacherous to travel.
After snow on Friday and Saturday across much of the region, temperatures plunged behind the front. The National Weather Service forecast 20 degrees or lower across six states from North Dakota to Illinois. Fargo, North Dakota, could dip to 11 degrees by early Sunday. Madison, Wisconsin, could see 7 degrees and Des Moines 12.
Parts of Iowa, northwest Illinois and southern Wisconsin could reach below zero, the weather service said.

Last night and tonight. Then its supposed to start warming up again with highs in the 50s on Thanksgiving.
If the climate keeps getting colder and snowier at this rate, we’ll be doomed in a few years! /s
:)
It’s from the movie “Fargo” - highly recommended if you appreciate dark comedy.
The low last night was 39, with lows tonight 29, in Southeast Louisiana. But high today will be 55 (dat still be chilly to us) with tomorrow warming to 50 and increasing in the following days to 64, 70, 72, & 75 for Tue. thru Fri. Then next weekend it starts to dive again. I hate cold weather.
Global warming..uh I mean climate change...sucks don’t it?
All these record breaking winter storms the past 3 years are going to boil the planet for sure.
I bet we’ll be cooking next year’s thanksgiving turkeys on the sidewalks if this doesn’t let up...
The Fargo series is top notch as well.
Des Moines has a colder climate than Pittsburgh, and we sure wouldn’t expect good ice here this early.
May a true word spoken in jest....
From an earlier thread toady....
Al Gore has been unusually quiet about global warming for dollars the last 2 years hasn't he?
Someone told big AL that the Suns magnetic field is declining
so expect very few ...or even no Sunspots
Last time that happened there was a 400 year long mini ice age 1350 to 1750
Expect cold starting around 2020 / 30 time frame.
I’ve always said news is “what happened today” so I should be alright with this. But, what’s next, “Sun Rises”?
Gorebull warming is coming earlier and harder to the Midwest.
Yeah, with rain.

Cold spell after a snow. Unprecedented. Mr Gore must be right after all.
They lost me when the gratuitously stared trashing Reagan.
Have you been to the rink? I’m in Steubenville and I’d love to try it.
