Cruz's status being or not being a Canadian subject (they are a monarchy) is irrelevant in regards to his status as a US citizen at birth. Nobody who is a US citizen from birth has to renounce anything officially to shore up his status as a US citizen from birth. For argument sake, lets say Germany passes a law granting automatic citizenship to all US citizens born on American military bases in Germany. Nobody affected by such law would need to anything to shore up their current status. It would be a serious pain in the ass for anyone to have to travel to Germany to do so. Once you have US citizenship from birth or naturalization, what any other country considers you means nothing to the United States. If you know your history, we fought a war in 1812 over this very issue.

I don’t have a problem with Trump and if he’s the only option when the Georgia primary comes here then I’ll vote for him. But I would vote for Cruz over him.

I would be so happy if the courts came down and ruled that no one can run for president unless they were born of two American citizens ON American soil.

What is with this country? McCain, Romney, Obama, now Cruz. And memory fails me, how many others. What is the problem with this country. We have Jindel, Rubio, and Cruz running this election.

Makes me want to scream.

Wrong. The framers used exactly three terms. The term naturalized citizen, natural born citizen, and alien. Nothing else. There are no rules beyond that.

If you do not gain US citizenship through a naturalization process, you are natural born. There is no such thing as someone who gains citizenship by birthright, who cannot become president at the proper age.

Germany has such a law, has for at least 42 years. My son was born in an American hospital, on an American base, of two American citizens, in Germany. He had dual citizenship until age 18, at which time he had to make a choice, American or German citizenship. He could not have both by law.

Unfortunately what you want is not what the Constitution and the laws written shortly after by the same men defined as a natural born citizen.

Maybe you need to do a little research on the man and his family.
And this site. Take it up with JIM Robertson the owner of this site. By the way: Have you contributed to the fund raiser this quarter?

As much as I like CRUZ and his background he is much more suited for the SCOTUS I have repeatedly said I’m greedy and want him in that position for life. So get off my case and take it up with JIM

“The issue is not citizen by birth but whether Cruz is a NBC”

Same exact thing. Show me anything in the Constitution that there are some people who gain citizenship by birth who are not fully eligible for any office in the country.
Even show a court ruling that such a second class status exists.

You can’t do it.

By who’s law did he have to affirm his American citizenship. By German law, then as an American citizen he did not have to do anything. If Germany asks you to do anything, the appropriate answer from an American citizen is KMA. James Madison would back your son on this course, as he did those dragged off of US ships by the Royal Navy who did not renounce their UK status when they became US citizens.

I like Cruz but your post does not establish he is a ‘Natural born Citizen’. It only establishes that he is a citizen, which I have never heard anyone dispute.

I did look at and read all of your links.

I am in the same situation as Cruz (except not Cuban heritage) with an American father and a Canadian Mother who became American after I was born.

I got a ‘Certificate of Citizenship’ when I applied for it at 16 (not naturalization) because I was already a citizen.

I did the oath, went in the military and fulfilled all my duties.

There are only two types of citizens. Naturalized and Natural Born. Unless you also count people who were eligible because they lived here when the nation was founded.

Naturalized and natural born. Show me anything in the Constitution that disputes that.

I do not know how old you are, thus how much time you got for a political career, but congratulations you are a Natural Born Citizen, thus eligible to be President of the United States, as per what the Founding Fathers stated, not some Swiss author.

“I got a ‘Certificate of Citizenship’ when I applied for it at 16 (not naturalization) because I was already a citizen.”

That’s just a document. You gained US natural born status the moment you were born.
