A coworker of mine used to work in DC somewhere a few decades ago and was in his bank at lunchtime to cash his paycheck (before they had direct deposit). Some idiot decided to try and rob the bank... it happened to be payday for the the FBI (the bank was on the same street as the HQ).

About 30 FBI guys who were all in the teller lines simultaneously whipped out their weapons... the idiot robber nearly had a heart attack.

I was about to post the same incident, although I recalled it as being at quitting time on a Friday. Since I only read about it and you heard from an eyewitness, I’ll assume your account is correct.
