Apparently someone reminded the Mets that they are supposed to be playing in the World Series. This was pretty close to a "must win" and they did it.

Trying to take off Escobar’s head with the first pitch set the tone for the rest of the game. Pretty gutsy for a rookie, who then for an encore won the game and had a hit.

someone reminded the Mets that they are supposed to be playing in the World Series They lost game one in 14 innings, and could easily have won that one to be up 2 games to 1. It's not like they have tanked, like the Cubs did. But they do need to win all 3 in NY. If they go into KC down 3 games to 2, I don't see them pulling it out.

(1) I can't stand Billy Joel. I don't know why Citifield adopted that song as a "go to" this season. It has zero thematic resonance. Maybe there's a deal? The Wilpons need money.
(2) I am a diehard Mets fan. The team has accomplished more, and more quickly, than I imagined this season. Man, I want this Series!
(3) It's impossible to hate the Royals. They're a gutsy team with a class act for a manager and great fans. Kauffman Stadium is a great park. The Royals have been waiting even longer than the Mets for a Series and they came so close last year.
