Yes and that is why I feel so good about myself as I walk out of Walgreens (in Hawaii where those EVIL plastic shopping bags have been made illegal) juggling my purchases in my bare hands (as I can’t remember my “eco-bags” that are still stuck in the back of the car). Oh my I feel righteous, knowing I’m saving the planet!!

RE:”If it is “settled science”, then we can cut off all the funds to study the climate and fire all the so called scientists. No more there there.”

They need that $$$ to educate the kiddies to get them ready for the global nation and economy.

Soon will come the Earth economic union with the Chinese bankers making up the rules.

Our kids need to be ready with education on Keynesian economics, gun safety, reproductive choices(sex ed), global warming, and how we are just wild apes without government to run our lives.

Usually they come in even numbers

That was the running joke in the movie “Paul.”

Until the actual mean temperature of the world can be accurately determined and compared with the "IDEAL" mean temperature to ascertain whether we are getting closer to or further from the ideal mean temperature, why are rational folks even discussing the situation?

How and by whom is the ideal mean temperature going to be determined? Ideal for what or whom? Who will prorate the relative importance of people, frogs, tulips, sharks, trees, mosquitos, worms, Panda Bears...................?

I remember reading that if the earth was the size of an average 1400 square foot house, the entire population of human beings would fit into one square billionth of an inch.

There is no way humans pollution could effect the earth’s climate.

He was writing me letters in the late 80's telling me what a farce it was that humans think they can warm or cool the earth, purely ridiculous he told me.

The frightening thing is that this is wrong. Geoengineering would work. If we decide to "offset" four degrees of global warming through a major multi-trillion dollar geoengineering project, we will produce roughly four degrees of global cooling. If the "settled science" is wrong on the warming, that could send us into an ice age.

Even if the geoengineering could be done for free and had no indirect costs, I would still oppose such an effort given the state of current science. I'm enough of a scientist to be disgusted by claims that any science is settled. [For anyone who feels otherwise, very little in science is more settled than Newton's Laws of motion and of universal gravitation. Despite that "settled" status, Einstein's work called both into question.]

So is meat causing cancer.. Everyone eat your genetically modified veggies now.. Double up, cause meat kills and you can trust the followers of Mengele. Wait... Is that an oven and a prison camp? Just glad I am not a twin.. Pretty interesting experiments with twins.

But I grew out of it. He never will.

No, he wont grow out of it. He makes more money out of it than you did.

The magnetic fields from the sunspots deflect ultra high energy gamma rays from the upper atmosphere.

Magnetic fields can only deflect charged particles. Photons (gamma rays) have no charge and are thus not influenced by magnetic fields of any magnitude.

RE:”So is meat causing cancer.”

This is not that new news, we have been told this for a while.

And especially processed meats with that bright red dye with all the other chemicals.
Common sense tells us that it cant be healthy(not to mention salt and fat)

I limit my red meat to two or three meals a week and cant eat the chemically process meats at all because my digestive system rejects them (was not a problem when I was younger)

I stand corrected—my mistake, not Svensmark’s. I meant Cosmic Rays, which are charged of course. Mostly protons. The heliosphere modulates the influx of Cosmic Rays. The particle cascade results in muons in lower atmoshpere levels, which serve to nucleate water droplets—forming clouds. Walk under a daytime low level cloud and it is cooler (obviouusly). From above, the bright white cloud is reflecting EM radiation back into space. Cooler earth.

Summary of Svensmark’s theory (any mistakes are mine):

More sunspots = larger heliosphere = more deflection of Cosmic Rays = fewer muons at lower levels = fewer low level daytime clouds = warmer earth.

Fewer sunspots = smaller heliosphere = more high energy cosmic rays hitting atmosphere = more muons at low atmosphere levels = more low level daytime clouds = cooler earth.

Interesting theory. I admit I hadn’t heard this one before. But it provides a plausible explanation for a mechanism of how sunspot activity influences temperatures on earth. Thanks.

Thanks. I’m still learning and digesting. Svensmark, in his book —The CHilling Stars—lays out his theory and then gives proof (existing), and also suggests experiments to prove or disprove it all.

One of his suggestions was an experiment at CERN, before it was even done being built. So it turns out they did the experiment, and Svensmark was correct. But it raised such a stink that it basically got suppressed.

I’m re-reading the book. I think he may have released another, or update.

Which just reminds me - that’s how they made HE particle tracks visible in the old days: cloud chambers!
