What makes us happy?
The act of giving.
Usually, happiness is when you obtain what you lack or don’t have enough of.For most folks, being happy and being satisfied or fullfilled mean the same thing.
Take the concept of a vacation. For some, a stay-cation at home alone, eating all the Chinese food you can afford is pure joy. For another, they won’t be happy until they complete a triathlon while being chased by Black Bears. Some consider happiness a goal, an apex to work toward. While others see it as something that happens to you, like the mumps. Something over which you have very little control.
Horse pucky. If you are sitting around
waiting for the bluebird of happiness to
come flying in the window, you’re in
for a long wait.
You are happy when your needs are fulfilled. (that’s short term happiness)
Long term happiness is not as easy to achieve, that’s where morality comes in.
My pets. The fact I am saved. That I will get my animals back one day. That one day all saved people, will be made perfect and we will all get aoong in real harmony.
The decision to be.
Suggestion: stop listening to the voices in your head.
I think Eckhart Tolle is right here.
Don’t seek happiness; seek to express teh Cosmic Joy of God’s Divine Universe, to do what you’re here to do nad be what you’re here to be, and happiness will be the natural by-product.
And the ability to give — since we give from the overflow.
What you’re talking about is pleasure, not happiness or joy.
EXACTLY!
“I reckon most people are just about as happy as they decide to be.” — Abraham Lincoln
The first step is to not confuse happiness with joy.
True.
“Beauty is how love looks; joy is how love feels.” — Rev. Lloyd Strom
The mind may be short on proven solutions, but it can always reinvent the problems. ;)
Most people can’t differentiate between the *I* and *eye*.
Old adage: Happiness is wanting what you have. Works for me.
