It was just such a shock, wasn’t it? We are so familiar with him and just kind of expect to always see him on TV. I’m pretty much just an NCAA tournament kind of gal (hardly watch basketball otherwise), but even I have seen enough of Odom to be disappointed and saddened by this.

I’m glad God laid this man on your heart. I know He hears the sincere prayers of the His children. Keep with it! I will try to remember to pray, too.

well, I have little sympathy....I have a brother with Parkinsons and a cousin with ALS....my mom died of cancer...

I expect to read deaths of lots of the idle richy rich any day of the week, every day infact....the same can be said of the millions of people taking drugs daily.....I just can't drum up sympathy anymore.

Well Odom never made it to day 5 he was found unconscious and foaming at the mouth on day three after ingesting what officials said was a mashup of herbal sexual stimulants, cocaine and alcohol.

I very much doubt that Odom is on ObamaCare (yet). I just wonder after this he will play ball again.

I hope Lamar realizes how lucky he is to be alive..anyone else in his same situation would already be dead. He has been given a second chance at life, he better NOT waste it. From being he was brain dead to now talking and breathing on his own, its a miracle for sure..he should not squander that miracle that he has been given

I’m with you. I’m praying for this guy, not because he’s a former NBA star but hearing about his struggles and all men and women who struggle trying to find the answer but the wrong answers like in drugs and sex and money. They all need Jesus and many around here who are Christians fail to see what Paul said:

The only reason I know who this guy is because he played for the Mavs (very grumpily) for a while. The only reason the world is updated about his condition is because of the Kardasions. My younger days were just before the double digit inflation of the early 1980s.

I those days I could also go to a club on Sunday night and dink as much as I could of Bud Light draft for a $5 cover charge from 7 PM to close. Made for a rowdy bunch once in a while.

I doubt that I ever got my money’s worth because I really wasn’t that much of a drinker then but I had fun.

No one’s asking anyone to show sympathy. I'm asking people not to be so dismissive of human life, particularly one so troubled. The man came out of poverty, his mother died when he was young, his father was a heavy drug addict and they were estranged for years, he had an infant child suffer a crib death in his first marriage, and now he's going through a divorce and his second marriage. He's not perfect but good Lord can people just keep their mouth shut when they have nothing good to say?
