Villagers have been left angry at news that their local pub is set to be converted into a mosque after being shut down because it did not make enough money.
The Greyhound Inn in Normanton, a suburb of Derby, closed for good in August and was put up for sale by giant pub company Enterprise Inns.
It has now been bought by the Jamia Mosque, which has its headquarters in the city centre, and the new owners have applied for planning permission to turn it into a religious institution.
The Greyhound is one of thousands of old-fashioned pubs to have shut down across Britain in recent years, with 29 said to be closing every week.

After Muhammad died, the people who lived with him and knew his religion best immediately fell into war with each other.
Fatima, Muhammads favorite daughter, survived the early years among the unbelievers at Mecca safe and sound, yet died of stress from the persecution of fellow Muslims only six months after her father died. She even miscarried Muhammads grandchild after having her ribs broken by the man who became the second caliph.
Fatimas husband Ali, who was the second convert to Islam and was raised like a son to Muhammad, fought a civil war against an army raised by Aisha, Muhammads favorite wife and one whom he had said was a perfect woman. 10,000 Muslims were killed in a single battle waged less than 25 years after Muhammads death.
Three of the first four Muslim rulers (caliphs) were murdered. All of them were among Muhammads closest companions. The third caliph was killed by allies of the son of the first (who was murdered by the fifth caliph a few years later, then wrapped in the skin of a dead donkey and burned). The fourth caliph (Ali) was stabbed to death after a bitter dispute with the fifth. The fifth caliph went on to poison one of Muhammads two favorite grandsons. The other grandson was later beheaded by the sixth caliph.
Rashidun Caliphs (632661)
- Abu Bakr ibn Qhuhafah (632634)Muhammad's f-in-law&father of Muhammad's most beloved wife, 'Aisha, Abu Bakr, was named the khalifa or "Successor" of Muhammad. Abu Bakr had proven himself to be a military genius & immediately called for a military expedition against the Byzantine empire
- Umar ibn al-Khattab (634644)
- Uthman ibn Affan (644656)
- Ali ibn Abi Talib (656661)
- Hasan ibn Ali (661)
- Muawiyah I (661680): Founder of the Umayyad dynasty The infighting and power struggles between Muhammads family members, closest companions and their children only intensified with time. Within 50 short years of Muhammads death, even the Kaaba, which had stood for centuries under pagan religion, lay in ruins from internal Muslim war
And thats just the fate of those within the house of Islam!
The folks taking over the pub believe this bloodline to be the foundation fathers of their faith. Islam, believe it or else!
Peaceful...to/with no one, no where, not even amongst themselves, from it's inception.
There. Fixed it.
Sell all kinds of pork products near there and put crosses in the windows and pictures of Christ.
Maybe they should make the first drink served at the new mosque a “Molotov Cocktail”!
Sounds to me like they should have supported the pub a bit more when it was in business. I don’t see how it could be a “cornerstone” of the community when it didn’t even have enough customers to make a profit.
“Hate crime”.
I had my chance. I could have gone to England. My cousin and her husband were living there just 20 years ago, I could have stayed with them.
I could have gone to England.
Now, I’ll never have that opportunity. England as we once knew it is gone.
Gone.
>England as we once knew it is gone.<
.
Hell, all of Europe as I once knew it, is gone forever.
Your average Joe Brit can’t even afford to buy a Pint anymore.
Much the same here; a beer in any bar around these parts is minimum five bucks, and in a restaurant fugedaboutit!
A lot of the price is because of gov’t mandated regulation, licensing and insurance, there is nothing anymore the gov’t doesn’t have their filthy hands in, unless you are a criminal illegal alien invader then you get the store for free.
That’s a good idea. Have outdoor pig roasts every weekend with lots of friends over.
It was gone in 2002, and before, we talked about getting stationed there I said no the whole place is being invaded. No
People think they can allow a little bit. And be nice
What is wrong with men that tgey allow their countries to be irreparably taken over?
Are they so busy in this birth control western culture, with activities tgat that allows to be patrons of their own territory?
I mean they can’t just say no get out?
I know the shopkeepers in my Texas city work for the most selfish of reasons. Any amount of totally catering to the invaders is never too much
Why worry about one pub turning into a mosque when the entire west has surrendered to the ROP? Notice that the subject of Islam has not been touched upon during the presidential debates, neither by the Rats nor Rinos. The debates remind me of an event with the objective of who can produce the most of smoke and mirrors.
Aw, Hellz No!
Actually, the moderators jumped on Ben Carson for his statements about Islam and he stood his ground well. I was impressed.
Yep, sounds to me like there wasn’t enough of the locals out getting snockered on a regular basis. That’ll teach em’
A new Islamic armory in Normanton. BURN IT NOW, BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!
My parts of England are still nicely English and European....we intend to keep them this way. We have a number of very nice Lithuanians, my best friends husband is Norwegian, there’s a French family, there’s a Czech, a Belgian and a Swiss.
“The Greyhound is one of thousands of old-fashioned pubs to have shut down across Britain in recent years, with 29 said to be closing every week. “
Many think that the reason was the Politically Correct crowd in unison with the fanatical anti-Smoking lunatics succeeding in getting smoking banned in public houses.
I think it’s near £2 a pint now. Astonishing.
I like this idea, lets adopt it worldwide!
