Early on in Pan, a young Peter Pan asks wheres the bacon when being served a watery bowl of gruel at an orphanage in World War II London.
Little did British director Joe Wright and Warner Bros. know how prophetic the question would become.
Over the weekend, the ambitious Peter Pan origin story bombed at the North American box office, grossing a paltry $15.5 million despite a $150 million production budget and a friendly PG rating. Pan, from Warner Bros. and co-financing partner RatPac-Dune Entertainment, could lose more than $100 million unless the live-action movie does huge business overseas, a tough proposition.

You can’t improve on the classic “Hook.” This is another example of Hollywood being out of ideas and trying to resurrect the former glory of old franchises.
Haven’t seen it, not trying to be too flippant, but,
was this movie updated to push liberalism; are they pushing homosexuality, or global warming, or income inequality, or recycling, or any other liberal causes within the storyline????
The new one or the old one? I wouldn’t be surprised in either case. The left was a lot better at disguising their indoctrination years ago. Nowadays they’re out in the open with their disregard for morality.
The trailers made it look like another tired CGI yawn-fest. The only good stuff in the movie is probably recycled from previous versions of Peter Pan.
Eye Candy is no substitute for a crappy story.
Did it not occur to them that this theme has been done to death? That there have been so many Peter Pan movies that another one was not really a good idea?
Here is an idea for a movie: Peter Pan vs King Kong
It has blockbuster written all over it.
One problem I can see just from the screenshot is the CGI. The fake colors. Too dark plus Hugh Jackman’s character looks gay.
Trust me, there are plenty of ideas in Hollywood. The problem is that the business is run by bean counters who think it's smarter to invest $150 million in something people are already familiar with than in something they've never heard of.
My wife and I enjoyed it. We’re going to include a bunch of kids this weekend (we always preview, just to be sure!)

You are so wrong. It should be Peter Pan vs Godzilla.
Given the pabulum that comes out of Hollywood these days, that's probably a smart move.
If Pan isn’t bad enough, I heard today that they’re remaking Fantasy Island for TV, but this time with a Miss/Ms/Mrs Roark instead.
Must. See. TV.
