Actually it’s why we HAVEN’T been hit by hurricanes in the east. But the winter storms are going to suck...just like last year.

The nor’easters can be pretty bad and it’s largely due to temperature differences between the air and water. In your case the colder the arctic air is, the worse the storms..
Hurricanes are a bit different...they require a lot of head room to get going, meaning you can’t have upper air masses moving at the time..
This is why the hurricane seasons have been so bland in recent years..too much upper atmosphere interference in the hurricanes ability to build.
