All dead. Tomato plants are stalks. Zucchini, nada. Beans, zilch. My basil, which my lovely lives for, wilted. The only thing that has survived is a small rosemary plant and there is only so much rosemary chicken and potatoes I can handle.

Not sure what happened but the black thumb blew another season. I ask this almost every week. What can grow in South Texas in October? Is there a veggie that can survive San Antonio Oct-Dec weather?

Anyway, hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

Did you ever have your soil tested?

I'm a little north of you in New Braunfels but in the winter I grow salad greens and spinach. Kale should do well but I'm not a big fan.

Early summer I put in another crop of summer squash and they do well up until the first frost. But then I have good luck with fall tomatoes, egg plant, various peppers and basil.

As Greeneyes suggest you might want to look at your soil. I have to use stuff from Gardenville and then continue to amend it with lots and lots of compost. And water; I continue to water every day.
