Wonder if DD will refuse him/her service? Or write BlackLivesMatter on his cup of warm milk?

A little digression here after being bombarded all day by TV news, mostly bad. The person washing the windows in the photo reminds me of the “I Love Lucy” episode where she dresses up like Superman for Little Ricky's birthday and plans to “fly” in through the apartment window. It is raining outside where she is 3 stories up on the ledge and she is besieged by pigeons. Of course the “real” Superman, George Reeves, has made it to the party and rescues her from the ledge.

Times were so much simpler then, it was fun for our family to drive to the grandparents’ house every Monday night to watch Lucy on their tiny TV and have fresh-baked cherry pie. Sorry for the off-topic post.

I pine for that time of *innocence.*

Reminds me of my dad, who was a brilliant inventor and engineer....when teevees first came out, he wouldn’t succumb to buy one for the family, b/c as he said, *I’m not sure they will catch on*. As a kid, I had to go to a neighbor’s house to watch those cool shows. I swear, we are the *last* people in our town to get a TV. ;)

Perry Mason, Twilight, Lucy, Ed Sullivan, Leave It to Beaver, You Bet Your Life...and all the rest. {{{sigh}}}

My husband lived in Bellflower during and after WWII, and he and his friends would walk over to Bellflower Bl. to watch TV in the appliance store window when it first came out. I still remember going over to my sister’s house to see the NBC Peacock in all of its blazing color for the first time, and to see Bonanza. Didn’t take much to be thrilled by such things in those days.

Color? My goodness! IIRC, when we finally got a B&W, color was coming in.

Our cousin had one of those plastic *screens to put over the glass tube to make things *colorized.* Hot stuff! ;D

In my case, I married a man who claimed that he hated cats and thought they were worthless creatures. I was about 8 years into a catless marriage, with 4 little kids, and an orange and white stray tom cat wandered onto our deck while my husband was working on something and curled up in his tool box. I had put the kids to bed and had collapsed on my own bed and had fallen asleep our of sheer exhaustion. My husband was working all alone — SOP around our household in those years.

My husband gave that cat a can of tuna and the cat never left. The kids named him Tigger, but he became my husband’s cat. My husband defended him for many years, and that cat ruled the roost around our house wherever we moved.

Orange cats are special.
