The average age of first marriage in the United States is 27, but that number may soon quickly rise, as young adults choose to delay marriage and many opt not to marry at all.
A recent study by the Urban Institute has predicted that if current trends continue, more than 30 percent of so-called Millennials defined by the studys authors as young adults born between 1980 and 1990 will still be unmarried at age 40. Thats the highest percentage of any generation in recent history: Only 9 percent of female Baby Boomers and 18 percent of Gen X women were unmarried by age 40, according to the studys authors.
The study cites several factors the authors believe are driving the declining marriage rate among young adults. Some are economic: The recession has hit Millennials particularly hard, as they struggle to balance high levels of student debt with low-paying, difficult-to-find jobs. Combine that with a culture that increasingly tells young people they should be financially stable and well-established in their careers before they get married, and you have a recipe for vast numbers of financially struggling Millennials who may avoid marriage simply because they feel like theyre not ready.

Mother Nature does NOT like producing babies late in life. There is a lot of danger to mother and child. What people don’t realize is the man side of the equation is the cause for problems.
perhaps there’s a silver lining here...
Having kids later in life is not quite as fun! Ask me, I know from experience! Love all my kids to death, but I had a lot more energy 14 years ago than I have now!
Unfortunately this will add to the massive shift in the composition of the population...i.e. Europe, Japan.
Although there is a progressing pattern, we can be optimistic that things also run in cycles. Similar to how if your parents were strict, you will be lenient. Then your children will be more strict because you were so lenient and so forth. At some point, waiting later to have children will start heading back down until it once again is so early that it heads back up again.
And why are television ratings at an all time low? BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE SICK AND TIRED OF SEEING MALES AND FEMALES PORTRAYED IN TOTALLY UNNATURAL WAYS (Females with penises and males who constantly cry like Boehner!!!)
Liberalism generally. But as a subset yes. Feminism.
I work with quite a few women in that age group.
They are all very intelligent, brainless twits.
And they give it away like Halloween candy.
Could be the obvious fact that there is less faithfulness in general among couples. Who wants to get married to a $lu#? Regardless of how warped this world gets I think people still want a mate that is faithful (despite what the MSM says)...
My oldest daughter is 24 and the youngest is 3.
This is certainly no surprise.
Takes good paying long term secure jobs, with good medical benefits to get married, have babies, get big time loans, mortgages, cars, all the medical insurance and everything which goes along with that old America life style stuff.
For the most part, this just isn’t’ happening for young America folks.
The Devil’s Dictionary defines “husband” thus:
“One who having dined, is charged with the care of the plate.”
That was a century ago; they knew nothing about today’s commercials where the wife is hot, sassy, & smart, and the husband is a ditwitted oaf.
This is certainly no surprise.

BTW, there are lots of illegals working here, sending much of their money back to Mexico, where they’re adding on room additions, swimming pools etc. It’s what happens when they get instant 200% raises when after crossing the border into greedy stupid USA land where it’s all about profits regardless of consequences.
My three oldest children (millenials) were married at 19, 21 and 23 respectively. Blessed with two grandchildren so far...so much for trends :)
There are various reasons for this, which others have mentioned. I would add another factor, which is the lack of social norms nowadays. There is no longer a social norm that people expect for marriage to be part of their lives. Young people today have grown up in broken homes, blended families, and frequently with a single mom who was never married to dad.
So these young people grow up, and don’t expect marriage to be part of their lives. People don’t equate marriage with having children. Records numbers have babies out of wedlock. In the black community, it’s so extreme that it is the social norm to have babies out of wedlock.
30% of millennial are also clueless fools....it’s better they don’t reproduce....
I wouldn’t be surprised if the willingness to get married and start families is connected to the degree of optimism in society. More people than ever are downcast about this country’s future and don’t want their potential kids to suffer the decline.

The article just said they would be unmarried. Not childless.
