You are correct.

The story was discovered by a Newsweak reporter —his editors made the enormous decision to NOT report it.

Drudge picked it up, popularized it, linked to it.

The National Enquirer was the first PAPER rage to give the story front page treatment.

Before it became widely known, there were phalanxes of experts here with a very lively running debate. That was for maybe 10 or 11 months.

I looked for quite a time for an Image of the enquirer issue that featured the story on its cover.

evidently its been scrubbed!
