This isn’t new. This is an old belief and parents and teachers have been trying to break kids of this ‘bad habit’ for centuries. This also goes back to a Christian religious belief. I didn’t know this was still going on.

Could you document where this is a “Christian” belief?

Oh, bullfiddle. There isn't any Christian religious belief against left-handedness. It's true that there was a language bias for "right"-ness, as in putting the "goats on the left, sheep on the right" --- which is why, even in English, "right" means "correct" --- but it is not a religious belief.
Any more than calling a little lie a "white" lie is racist.
