I tried to help my daughter and I couldn't get it. I told her to ignore what they taught and do it the old fashioned way. She said, the teachers told them to ignore the parents. That was over 40 years ago. (she went on to use the old way, lol)

I was teaching my Grand Daughter how to find the area of regular polygon with 12 sides knowing only the radius of the circle in which it was inscribed.

Took her around 3 minutes and cost me $20, never wave a dollar in front of a 12 year old.

Catholic school parent here as well. Not the pinnacle of education, but leaps beyond most public schools in the things that matter. I’m so glad my child pretty much missed all this nonsense. There were a few glimpses of it last year, in eighth grade, but none in ninth. I think we’re ahead of the wave just far enough to avoid this wall of stupidity.
