THe brightside, unlikely to happen again for a long time!
That is an undisputed fact for the deer here in west suburban Chicongo.
THey have over grazed everything!
Used to work at Argonne NATIONAL LABORATORY,
They have a herd of white deer, delightful to watch.
Used to go in early to have coffee with the deer.

THe gate guards told me that early in the AM they run in and out the gate.
Many years back we used to pheasant hunt adjacent to O’hare airport. Occasionally airport security would stop by for a friendly visit. Many deer there.
Today you would be shot on sight!
And they would start shooting if they only THOUGHT to have seen you!
Add to that CWD.
IIRC transmitted via saliva.
D’oh, A Deer!
A friend driving an M88 retriever at FT Hood, a place known for poor maintenance.
The MPs changed the route at bottom of a hill, Anglo, not being one to care, ran over their jeep; totally and completely.
The wanted his head and stripes, but bad brakes is bad breaks.
A female deer...
One brother was a 2nd AD cannon cocker. He told about a grunt moving his sleeping bag onto a tank trail one night so he could lay on the soft chewed up ground. Sure enough, some M60s came along at oh dark thirty and ran over him.
Same brother was driving an M109 155mm through a German village where they accused him of hitting a curb and breaking some of it off. He said the krauts would fake claim damages quite a bit to get Uncle Sap to pay for them.
I sure would have liked to have watched the M88/ jeep mating. Particularly being an MP jeep.
The Maintenance CO may have a bit of trouble explaining how his guys couldn’t maintain the brakes on their own retriever though.
My husband replaced his front bumper 3 times at great expense — no deer. He hit a coyote, a turkey (the most expensive, a racoon, and a snow bank. Damned plastic bumpers! No damage since he got the deer whistles. My driveway is a deer trail. Without a dog, they no longer hide.
It’s a kick to round the corner in my driveway to confront a wall of deer and watch them scamper away. I can look to my right and spot them in the pasture running fast. Instead of running AT me, they turn tail and go the opposite direction.
White deer (albinos) are protected in WI. You get in big trouble and lose your hunting license forever, if you shoot one.
I’m in East Texas, lots of deer. Living out in the boonies I drive home at about 40mph max, I’ve seen plenty run across the road. Barely missed 3 a couple of weeks ago leaving band practice, doe and fawn barely made it, 2nd fawn almost rammed its head into my passenger side door...I’m not sure if the door or the fawn would have won that one...I was going about 20. Narrow crooked backwoods road with plenty potholes, I rarely go more than 30 there.
My sister got 2 fawns here years ago, destroyed the front bumper of a Ford Courier. They ran across the road after daylight, doe made it across, both fawns didn’t.
I’ve seen so many out here I just putt home at no more than 40 usually, slowing down just that much from 55 has been a good thing, 3 or 4 have made it across the road in front of me over the years with no damage to me or my vehicles.
That means he even broke one or more of his middle ear bones. Which were spared?
Not sure but he said he didn’t know if most of the damage was done from hitting the deer or rolling 100 yards down the interstate.
This morning we had six deer in the yard
the previous record was 4
in our immediate neighborhood we have at least 10 known
soon the wolves will be coming
That's racist!
Not long after we first moved out to the country, I heard my wife say from the kitchen one morning:
"Oh look! There's deer in the yard!". Then a brief pause followed by "Sonofabitch! They're eating my rose bushes! Where's the shotgun?"
yep...... except was her pride and joy caladiums and beans here
