My sis would never miss The X-Files when they were on broadcast TV. I never watched, because I worked nights and missed it.

Recently, since there are rumors of a remake, I have been watching the series on Netflix and just finished the first season. Even though it is over 20 years old, it still holding up pretty well.

The Netflix stream must have been remastered, because it is in wide-screen format. A lot of the older TV programs have been digitized from old reels and VCR tapes and are difficult to watch on the newer widescreen TV sets.

For the most part, the X-Files will always hold up well, in much the same way Serling’s, “Twilight Zone,” does. The series also did have some inherently conservative themes/trends as outlined neatly in this article:
