Almost diabetic....

One of my lady friends got a high read and her doctor put her on diabetic meds....Then she really got sick.

The readings were all over the place....

The doctor took her off the meds....and her system was reading just fine.

When all we had was insulin and “first generation “ oral agents, diabetes was defined as fasting blood sugar >140 and often a 4 hour test of successive results as a given amount of sugar was metabolized. But just like the cholesterol story, as medications were developed that allowed relatively safe re-definition of “diabetes” that could be treated , we went to FBS 118, now 100. It’s hard to prove that that incremental lowering really does a lot, but it sells a lot of pills. Probably makes the newer treatment available in cases where it is a good idea to treat as well.

There are two reasons why I-like most of my family-do not eat processed food or other empty calories like sweets, packaged bread, white rice, “instant” anything, etc, and use natural remedies instead of prescription and even OTC drugs-first, that stuff was not readily available in the remote area where the ranch is-but the fresh meat, vegetables, fruit, honey and dairy stuff and the natural remedies were-and second, I was brought up to believe being overweight, taking drugs and eating food that contained stuff that was not natural were all bad for you. I work a physical job, I weigh what I did at age 17, and energy is not a problem-works for me...

I think the consumption of processed foods containing stuff like high fructose corn syrup-anything that ends in “ose” is some form of SUGAR-is making people fat and sickly-add a few drugs to the mix, and you have a sick, probably overweight pill consumer. And my neighbor who was a rep for a major pharmaceutical manufacturer told me all about the perks docs get for prescribing drugs to everyone, anyone-he said most docs don’t even read the literature on the side effects and contraindications of a drug before prescribing-selling, really-enough of it to patients-who are technically customers-to win a cruise, trip to Vegas, etc-inventing “illness” is a big money maker...
