And ‘Enterprise’ lasted only three seasons. Which wasn’t near enough. That show had untapped potential.

I was too young to know what it was about, but the first tv I ever watched was Star Trek (or so I'm told.) I've watched every series and Enterprise was my favorite.

They canceled it one show shy of syndication.

btw, the best Star Trek movie was the first one with Chris Pine. I can watch that anytime.

“Or even better, how about a Star Trek that features a group of colonists on a planet that due to some monstrous event have lost much of their technology. They have to combat occasional visitors while attempting to develop their technology to a point where they can leave the planet or at least send an SOS probe toward Earth. Sort of like Star Trek meets Gilligan’s Island.”

That is actually not a bad idea

Time travel has been done to death and deus ex machina is a crime.

Prissy characters and yacky plots in “The Next Generation” ruined the franchise — a long time ago.

Is there a minimum number for syndication?
TOS had only 79 episodes, fewer than the usual 100.
But there are shows in syndication with fewer than 79.
Also there was at least one with more than 100 that never made it into syndication....I can’t recall what it was though.

Star Trek: Axanar takes place 20 years before the original series and has a good budget.

Potential perhaps but execution was horrible. Temporal wars etc garbage. Series was a fustercluck. Like voyager before it.

There hasn’t been a series since because enterprise was so bad it killed the franchise and burned the body...

This year marks ten years since that doc died. In another ten collective memories might be foggy enough to try anothe Star Trek series

I agree, though post “Serenity” it would be pretty hard for Mel and the gang to stay low and continue the life they had

A funny riff on Star Trek sequels and where I got my screen name from...

During the South Dakota game yesterday, the Kansas State band attempted to show the Starship Enterprise fighting a giant KU Jayhawk.
For those with an eye for such things, unfortunately it resembled a phallus that the garish, cartoon-like bird was preparing to fellate.

Apologies all around were given and next time maybe they’ll try a Firefly class spacecraft?

How about a Star Trek series about a disgraced captain who now is stationed commanding a space gunboat patroling the Romunlan Netetral Zone, escorting freighters, watching for smugglers etc... Nothing happens but—Its really a special spy mission to keep control of a near lawless area and prevent war. Small crew of 35-40 going back and forth doing a bit of smuggling themselves! Young promissing Starfleet officer has an affair with an admirals daughter and is Banished to serve on the gunboat at the end of the universe as a punishment. A science Fiction McHails Navy with an awful busybody section officer who is lazy and corrupt. Something could be done with that—

Did Star Trek: Enterprise last that long? I don't think it did. (It was the prequel with Scott Bakula as the captain, remember?)

How did the family of Trekkers get around on their vacation?

They rented a Voyager from Enterprise.

Another series might be OK. It might be able to reboot the reboot.

Live long and prosper.

Enterprise managed to give us one interesting bit of Star Trek trivia. Apparently, it was Captain Archer's father who wrote the Star Fleet mission statement (the one that began the first two series.)
