Back in the day, cars had a wider fan belt. So, my uncle goes to start his car, not realizing that the cat had gone to sleep on his fan belt for a nice warm nap. No more kitty. What a mess.
At the fire department got to this car in time.
My cat came wandering home one winter after having done the same thing in someone’s car. She had very deep cuts to her head and jaw area. I always bang on my hood whenever I’ve parked outside before I start my car so no harm befalls any neighborhood cats.
One of my childhood pet cats lost a front leg that way. She was a total sweetheart before and after. I remember her with her stump shaved bare by the vet and the row of stitches. She stayed in bed — a cardboard box with a blanket —for about a week and was obviously in pain during that time but would purr when you came near. She recovered and got around just fine on her three legs.
