RAJURA, India, - Police in India said a parrot detained on allegations of shouting obscenities at an elderly woman refused to utter a single word for officers.
Chandrapur district police said the parrot, Hariyal, was detained at the police station in Rajura, Maharashtra, after Janabai Sakharkar, 85, told investigators the parrot would shout obscene words and phrases at her whenever she would pass by the home of its owner, her stepson.
Sakharkar told police she believes her stepson, Suresh, trained the parrot to shout obscenities at her because of an ongoing land dispute between the family members.
Police said the parrot did not speak in front of officers, even when confronted by Sakharkar.
"There is a dispute over land and property between the woman and her stepson. We watched the parrot carefully, but it did not utter a word at the police station after being confronted by the complainant," Police Inspector P.S. Dongre told reporters.
Police said they decided not to return Hariyal to his owner and instead put the bird in the care of forest department officials for rehabilitation.
Big Bird DeBlasio better watch it.
I wish them luck. Although it is more probable they can teach a parrot not to swear than a leftist nut-job.

She asked why, the store owner said because the parrot has a foul mouth and no one wants it.
She could not pass up the deal so she bought it and took it home.
Placed it on a perch and asked, "Polly want a cracker?"
"F#%& Y)* Bi+&$" replied the parrot.
OH my said the new owner. "Polly want some bird seed?"
"E S and D" said the parrot.
OK, says the owner, grabs the parrot and places it in the freezer for one hour to cool it's jets.
Hour later takes the bird out and asks, "Polly want a cracker>"
Bird shakes his head no.
Polly want bird seed?
Bird shakes his head.
"What's the matter?" asks the new owner.
Parrot says," I ain't saying nothing until you tell me what the turkey in the freezer said.
After about ten minutes, she took him out and asked, “Have you learned your lesson.” “Yes,” he said, “but I have one question.” “What is it?” she asked. “What did the turkey do to wind up in the freezer?”
