BOSTON (CBS) — Boston police are trying to assure Roxbury residents that the area around Malcolm X Park is safe after gunfire erupted Monday afternoon near a community pool where children were swimming.

Police Commissioner William Evans handed out ice cream cups to kids outside the Melnea Cass Recreational Complex on Tuesday.

Hmmmm. So, now, every time there is a pool shooting, kids will be treated with free ice cream?

It’s Boston.
Boston is liberal.

Ergo, Boston is not, nor never will be, safe.

MX Park? That certainly sounds like a safe place.

I have a friend with one of those yappy dogs and every time you knocked on the door, she (i.e., the dog) would run to the door and pee. The owner would scold the dog and then give her a doggy treat. She could never figure out the connection. Evidently, neither can the BPD.

So the park is safe simply because the police say so?

Forgive me if I no longer give their statements any credence.

Also, the park’s name is a big clue that it will never, ever be a safe place.

I would be very cautious in a neighborhood with Malcolm X Park.

Just as Martin Luther King Blvd. indicates that you are in a bad neighborhood, Malcolm X Park is a similar indicator that you are not in a safe area.

But then let’s send out cops with ice cream, and as if by magic, the troublemakers who make these places unsafe will now behave themselves.... Really????

I worked at that pool as a Lifeguard in the Summer of 1971 and think about it every time I hear “Maggie May” by Rod Stewart.

I and my white Lifeguard friend from Charlestown got through the Summer there with no problems, thankfully.

Roxbury used to be a "bad" place in the late 60's and early 70's. I went there a couple of times (even after dark) but fortunately had no issues.

These days I don't even go to Mass.

...

Another example of a B-side that turned out to be a big hit and a classic.

Just checked the 100 most dangerous cities in America. Boston is not listed. There were six other cities on the list from Massachusetts. You need to check the demographics before forming an opinion. Boston may be run by liberals. Liberals outnumber RINO's 2 to 1 here. Independents number greater than Democrats and Republicans combined.
