I’ve got a 23 year old that has been beating my predictions of imminent demise for about ten years.
Three more and he’s got a shot at the title!
That was her 18th birthday, May 26.
I worry when STINKY is sleeping too soundly, and I think she does the same. Because we both wake each other up, just to make sure, we are both still breathing!
Dogs are 7 to 1. Cats are more like 5 years to 1.
Yeah you know they are in good health but so old that their muscle tone and strength is not what it used to be....my 17 & 16 year olds are not allowed out at night.
They go out during the day and were great hunters at one time. Its so hard to watch them get old.
We set ourselves up and I will continue to do so forever.
We set ourselves up for that heartbreak.
In the meanwhile cannot wait to get home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That 26 year old looks really good.
I’ve got a STINKY too. He came out of nowhere one December evening a few years back just as a major snow storm was moving in on us. I’d gone out to the wood pile to stock up the wood rack, and there he sat in the middle of the driveway, sick and hungry, staring toward the house like he was waiting for me.
I don't now much about cats.
Always thought of them a predators for vermin. And birds.
But with dogs the heartbreak is similar to losing a spouse or child.
Pfft. At age 27, my Moogie Cat was run-over in the driveway. Blind, she got out somehow. Never got into the books, though.
Been on the dog side too.
Our Barney lived to 16. He was a Beagle my husband found on the parkway as a puppy.
Best dog ever. I miss him everyday!
My boy Nixon is 12 years old and doing great...I have 2 cats and he’s the Alpha. He got really sick at the end of 2012...and on New Years morning, he was all hunched over, barely breathing...the emergency vet told me he had congestive heart failure. He was prescribed people medicine...Furosimide and Benazepril....which I have painstakingly smuggled into his daily Temptations snacks (I think cats all over the world love these things)...and he’s like he never got sick...just as mean and as big a bully as he ever was...and I love him for it!! I love this kitty...he and I bonded from the first day when the lady I worked with at the time in 2003 said as she handed this skinny little gray fuzzy kitty to me...”he’ll really take to you,...he’s a real daddy’s boy”....and he was born on Father’s Day 2003...lol... I sure love my boy...I love both of my boys of course...
Ive given him that medicine every day of his life since January 1st 2013...
Cats mature quickly (even if they continue to behave like kittens). At 2 years old, they are 24 in human years. After that the ratio is 4 cat years to 1 human year, so 120 years is correct.
