If Sen. Marco Rubio (R Fl) 80% or former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush somehow win the Republican nomination despite their support of open borders immigration policiesand backing of full-scale amnesty for illegal aliens in Americabillionaire businessman Donald Trump will not endorse them for president. Gentlemen, we know how much you love hand raising questions so we promise this is the only one tonight, Fox News Bret Baier opened the debate by asking. The only one. Is there anyone on stagecan I see handswho is unwilling tonight to pledge your support to the eventual nominee of the Republican Party and pledge to not run an independent campaign against that person? Again, were looking for you to raise your hand now, raise your hand now if you wont make that pledge tonight.
Trump raised his hand.
Mr. Trump. Mr. Trump, to be clear, youre standing on a Republican Baier started to follow up.
I fully understand, Trump said.
The place where the RNC will give the nominee the nod, Baier interrupted.
I fully understand, Trump said again.
And the experts say an independent run would almost certainly hand the race over the Democrats and likely another Clinton. You cant say tonight that you can make that pledge? Baier followed up.
I cannot say, Trump responded. I have to respect the person that if its not me, the person that wins. If I do winand Im leading by quite a bitthats what I want to do. I can totally make the pledge if Im the nominee. I am discussing it with everybody. But Im talking about a lot of leverage. We want to win and we will win. But I want to win as the Republican. I want to run as the Republican nominee.

This was a surprise to them? There were only two people I trust on amnesty on the stage, Cruz and Trump.
Its called “The Art of the Deal” kiddies.
I think they’re gonna see a lot of people won’t be supporting pro amnesty candidates. I know I will not.
Like the rest of the media, this headline alone is completely false. Trump did NOT say that.
What he said is that he would not pledge to support the Republican candidate and rule out a 3rd-party run.
The DC Cartel’s candidates. Rubio and Bush.
I’m okay with Trump refusing to pledge. Not only can I not pledge to support Bush, Rubio, Christie, or some other big government Amnesty supporter, I can promise that I will not under any circumstances vote for someone who supports Amnesty. Rewarding criminals for breaking the law is both morally wrong and bad public policy. In this particular case, Amnesty would be the final blow to an America weakened by eight years of socialism and pure evil in our White House.
Trump was on Hannity after the megyn “this is all about ME” kelly show and he walked it back a bit saying that he was very impressed by how nice and gentlemanly the jebster was.
Trump has said all along that he wants to be treated fairly b the GOPe and must have respect for the candidate if it isn’t him so I don’t know why anyone would be shocked about this.
Exactly. And, they are the only two GOP candidates I’ll support.
They'll compromise if they have to, settle for Christie or Kasich.
Well said. You summed up nicely the no compromise situation we face.
Trump supports and over-and-back expedited amnesty for the "good" ones.
I wonder if Rick Santorum would have taken the pledge to unconditionally support the Republican nominee? The GOP establishment practically coerced him into supporting Arlen Spectre.
Trump supports an over-and-back expedited amnesty for the “good” ones.
Just look at how they wouldn’t let him explain himself until he was repeatedly badgered: Mr. Trump ... Mr. Trump ...Mr. Trump ...
The whole thing was disgraceful. Megyn Kelly’s “question” was a complete hatchet job.
Good. He’d be a hypocrite if he did.
Trump Refuses To Pledge Support To Endorse Amnesty Supporters Rubio, Bush If They Win Nomination

I said this earlier
:)
Why would anyone think he would do this. It was a trap question. He’s not a boot licker. He’s his own man.
Very true.
I didn’t support the pro AMNESTY candidate in 2012
Romney was for AMNESTY..
He said “We cant send them all back”
and
“we must find a path to citizenship”
and that was about 2006
