Have Men Given Up on Work?
GoodMenProject.com ^ | December 15, 2014 | Dixie Gillaspie

There is an economic crisis that isn’t much talked about, but which is responsible for a downward spiral that none of us want to see continue.

Men are opting out of the workplace.

That’s right. According to the U.S. Department of Labor statistics, in the 1950’s about three percent of men between 25 and 54, which is still considered “prime” working age, were unemployed and not seeking employment. In the late 1960’s that had climbed to about five percent. In 2013 it was reported at 12 percent. And the last report placed it at 16 percent.

These aren’t just men who aren’t working. These are men who aren’t looking for traditional employment.

WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?

I’ve written about the disappearing working man before, but let’s take it a little deeper here. Why will fewer men in the workforce create a downward spiral in the economy? Men, when they have money, buy stuff. And men who aren’t working don’t buy as much stuff. Sure, if they’re getting unemployment or disability, or doing a little freelancing on the side, they’re buying necessary stuff. But they aren’t buying the stuff that fuels the economy.

So guess what happens next? Well, what usually happens to an economy when people don’t buy stuff? No matter what stimulus plan or artificial tweaking of interest rates is rolled out by the powers that be, eventually there isn’t enough money being spent to create new jobs to pay people who will spend money. That’s a gross over simplification, but let’s work with it.

and women are not interested in getting pregnant....

lets see....men hate women and won't marry them and create children, and women don't want children anyway....what possibly could go wrong with this dynamic?

maybe a country being taken over by illegals....

Only white men. Others can work for government.

Not to worry. The godless progressives who have screwed up our society during the last 100 years trying to implement their socialist utopia have a plan to fix it all. But it’s going to require much bigger government, much more money and a lot more sacrifice by we the little people.

I used to pay thousands of dollars in taxes. Tens of thousands of dollars some years.

When traveling for an evil Big 6 company (now part of Big 4) I spent $5000 to &7000 a month on rental cars, hotels, airline tickets, meals, corporate apartments, whatever.

I used to buy dinner at restaurants and fast food places like it was nothing. Corporate lunches, hundreds of dollars at grocery stores, etc. etc. etc.

I haven’t done 99% of that in years. Many years. Especially since O was elected. I don’t care if there are pockets here and there. There are several people who have suffered severe economic damage.

If you’re one of them, you know exactly what I am talking about.

If you’re one of those who pay a bit more for food and gas but things haven’t changed much, good for you. But there’s a hidden beast out there for some of us.

I have now (as of last week) been contacted by 8 recruiters all for one particular company. But nothing ever happens. I told the 7th to make something happen. She passed me on to the 8th. LOL (not really LOL). I’m sure there will be a 9th any day now.

I used to be. Stopped running around like a playboy. The talk of marriage and children sent many, in fact most of them, running for the hills. Here in the Midwest.

Oh, one could still have gotten married. I think men are afraid of getting divorced moreso. Especially the way the courts went for many years, if not still.

What if guys supported each other in shifting their understanding of what it means to “man up” so that it included being tender and tactful?

This is a toughie for me. I don't know how to be tender and tactful to an able-bodied young man who has no interest in working.

My situation exactly. I haven’t had a job since 1999, now at age 70, I’m still loving it. My two youngest grands spent the day here yesterday, the only hitch was when my 4 yr. old g/daughter got her very first wasp sting.

Men don't hate women.

Women have been trained to hate men, especially traditional men, but to empower themselves by sleeping with tattooed freaks and low-life thugs until they are about 30.

Then join misMatch.com, eStrife.com, and PlentyofBicycles.com, and Floosk.com and not get any interest from men other than 34-year-old unemployed men living in their mother's basement, because in the Obama economy, all the jobs went to put Womyn's studies majors into the HR departments and middle management.

Then the women have the nerve to look surprised, and write heartfelt screeds asking "Where are all the good men at?"

Why, they're watching internet Pr0n, dear, ever since you laughed in his face at age 22 and went and made out with a douchebag right in front of him instead.

Enjoy your cats.

I'm just happy I'm only pulling 48 hrs this week.

It's the shortest week I've worked in six months.

Brother, I don't know what men they're talking about. I'm 67 years old, I've been a productive member of the workforce for over fifty years and I have no intention of stopping until I croak.

They can keep their bread and circuses - I'll live in Freedom and to Hell with their free stuff!

Let me guess...might it have anything to do with a website named “goodmenproject.com” publishing articles written by “Dixies?”

Dude! Same here!

I used to Rep for a distributor traveling three weeks out of four and was laid off in 2008 DAYS after Obama was elected.

I have been at home with the kids ever since, first to care for our disabled child until he passed away and then to care for our three youngest all still under five. If my wife didn't work for a company that had health insurance I would be working and she would be at home.

In the last month I have been inundated with Emails from recruiters. NONE have any real jobs with pay available. ALL are for commission only sales or the ‘opportunity’ to invest in a franchise or business.

I did however apply for a third shift factory job I would love to get, even though at best it pays less than half what I was making before. But the hours would be great for me.

I hope they call back. It would be nice to make some money.

Kick his ass into the gutter; tell him when he is ready to get out, to come see you about a job.

I retired in 2010, working harder now than I did for years.
Course I bought myself a small farm in the mountains just to keep myself occupied.
Yes, I am a crazy old man.

That's what I feel like doing. I work at a church doing building maintenance and groundskeeping. We get these guys almost every day looking for a few bucks for a bus ticket or help paying rent or some sob story or another. When I tell them we don't just give people money, we make them work for it, they just walk away or they ask to talk to the Pastor.

The few who do decide to work, do so for a couple of hours or they move like snails. When I try to light a fire under them, they get their pull-ups all wadded up and act like they want to beat the crap out of me.

Bunch of lazy turds. I think their mommies breast fed them for too long.

The question was “where are all the good men at”.
Well the answer to that question is, MARRIED AND RAISING THEIR FAMILIES, or STILL MARRIED AND ENJOYING RETIREMENT WITH THEIR WIVES.
All the Femanazi Libbers wanted the perfect, rich, handsome, compassionate, emotionally in touch with his feminine side, romance novel hero type man.
WELL GUESS WHAT BABIES—HE DOESN'T EXIST!
Being aggressively stupid is not good for your long term survival.
