Talking To Trump: Refreshing Like Reagan And Palin
Breitbart ^ | by Kevin Scholla | by Kevin Scholla

When Donald Trump announced his candidacy for president, the typical attacks came flying in from the left as well as from establishment hacks. They called Mr. Trump a clown. They tried to marginalize his run by painting him and his efforts as fraudulent.

The very same people who found nothing odd about a community organizer with no experience seeking the White House found plenty wrong with one of the world’s most successful businessmen doing the same. Trump was blasted by people who’ve never met him. People that know very little about the man felt they could still make huge judgments about his sincerity, viability, and character. It’s no wonder Trump has admiration for former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. They’ve been through some very similar assaults that few others can say they’ve experience first hand.

Curious thing I notice about The Donald, everyone, even folks who don’t care for him, who has had a personal interaction have to say about him all remark on one quality. He is gracious. Strange word, all hard sounds but has soft meaning. He must be a unique man. I suppose to be immensely successful in the “hospitality business” it would be a great asset to have such a characteristic but it does seem a quality in rare supply these days. Ironic in one who is widely known for brash rudeness. We are all full of contradictions but Trump is exceptional it seems. Brash rudeness probably comes easily enough but exceptional grace must require great, prolonged cultivation. What a curious man.

I don’t disagree...but Dr. Ben Carson is possibly the quintessential gentleman.

His campaign stuff came to the house yesterday ....well thought out. I’d be in the tank for him, if it weren’t for his *iffy* stance on gun ownership.

I spent more than a few years training in neurosurgery back when. Nice guys are rare. Carson does appear to have accomplished the impossible by maintaining his integrity and humanity in the daily company of a peer group that is largely assholes. I was very interested in what he had to say in his first appearance after the prayer breakfast. The first words out of his mouth were about giving folks several thousand dollars to buy health insurance. I thought to myself how is he being represented as conservative?

The additional training/schooling necessary for a neurosurgeon is incredibly rigorous.

I’ll look for his statements on health insurance. I believe he has since flip-flopped in 2A issues.

Does the *perfect* conservative candidate exist?

Okay, since we’re on a roll of agreement here (one in a row) - and while I absolutely do love Trump’s refreshing candor and lack of political speak...please tell me has he said anything about limiting government....about the Constitution. Not being provocative here...he’s in the news so much, it’s hard to read/hear everything he says.....so this is legit question.

yep, and I would add IRS targeting too.

You know, it’s fine to compare Trump to Reagan / Palin in a very limited sense...but I can’t remember Reagan going more than about 5 minutes before he mentioned something about limiting government. Ditto’s Palin, who’s also been very blunt about cronyism, which is an offshoot of big government.

Where is the Donald on that? I mean, if we’re talking Reagan and Palin, let’s talk about some of their hot button issues.
