After owning PC's for 33 years, I've finally broke down and bought an Apple. Didn't really want to, but I finally got sick and tired of the time I was spending fighting off malware / viruses.
If MS was serious about holding market share, they'd figure how to deal with this permanently. And btw I do know iOS isn't immune to these problems, but they sure appear to be a lot less prevalent.

My PC at home is ready for the 10 upgrade, needing to start doing some reading on windows 10, definitely so for I plan on taking the MCSA in the future.

Actually, if you are running Windows 7, install the free Windows Security Essentials program for real-time protection plus the current free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to run about every 3-4 days. These two are very effective in keeping the most common malware out.

Which Apple product did you end up purchasing?

Stay away from nasty websites and you won’t have to deal with viruses and malware.

The reason the problem exists is because of MS's market share - it's simply a much bigger target than Mac OS X. If Mac OS had Windows' market dominance, it'd be the primary target for attacks.
Nothing at all wrong with your choice of a Mac - they're beautifully made, and the BSD Unix underpinnings are rock-solid (I've used and loved BSD Unix since I was a freshman in college and still run OpenBSD at home). But it's quite possible to secure your Windows box.

I used Apple for 20 years, and mostly PC's the past 15. I haven't had one virus problem on any of my 6 PC's in the past 7 years.

If MS was serious about holding market share, they'd figure how to deal with this permanently. They don't appear to have lost any appreciable amount of market share. If that was the only difference between Apple and Microsoft, Microsoft would have been out of business a long time ago.
