I received a email notice from National Institute for Highway Safety yesterday linking to the site for the recall information. There were instructions for downloading a zipped file to my computer which I performed. Once downloaded the file unzips to a thumb drive of a minimum 4 GB capacity. Take the thumb drive and insert it into the USB port in the vehicle and turn the ignition switch to “Run or “On”. The update self installs.

Funny thing though. The update is dated to April 2014. So they have known about this since before then and the update is just now being released? Par for the Chrysler/Jeep/Ram course.

I failed to mention the update is for the Uconnect system which is the area of concern related to the hack.
