During the ‘08 race, one Viet Nam Vet told me that McCain was “not a very good pilot”. I ask what he meant, he said, “he got shot down”. I thought of a self inflected wound caused his capture.
McCain is a hero only as much as were his +/-1,350 fellow Vietnam POWs. He’s more a lucky idiot who was his father’s and grandfather’s legacy at the Naval Academy, where he graduated 894th out of a class of 899. Following that, he crashed 3 planes during flight training. His wet start of his plane on the deck of the USS Forrestal on July 29, 1967 emitted a flame that caused the pilot of the plane behind him to launch an M34 missile resulting in a catastrophic fire that killed 134, injured 161 and took a capital ship out of action. He was a discipline problem throughout his military career.....something we’ve all seen in his political career. Again, a lucky idiot. He’s a hawk that champions putting American military lives in harm’s way, even for bad reasons or no reasons at all, at the same time quietly supporting the degradation of veteran’s benefits and services. While I most likely won’t vote for Trump, there is a strong element of truth in what he recently said. To me, McCain is the Republican equivalent of John Kerry.
Didn’t he crash a couple of planes?
He also burned up some of his messmates and caused some massive damage to his ship when he showed off with a pulse from his jet right in front of a line of A/C waiting to exit the hangar to the flight deck.
