“That statement assumes the foresight to store food beyond normal consumption, the ability to grow food without the strong help of the sun and that shipping is unhindered as the economy falls apart and disease is rampant.”

As the temperature drops the growth zones will move towards the equator. Other crops can be adapted to grow in the new colder climates with shorter growing seasons. Areas that were jungle or desert will be made habitable and fruitful. And, we have genetic modification now. So, we can make cold adapted plants grow things that they couldn’t grow before.

The weather won’t make the economies disappear. They’ll just change. We’ll adapt. That is, if governments allow us to.

Change can actually be good. At least it isn’t always bad.
